Touch Foundation for Change: 8-Step Holistic Approach

Touch Foundation for Change applies an 8-Step Holistic Approach to address the core social, economic, familial, and societal challenges facing youth and young adults. Using a proprietary software platform, the organization gathers and evaluates intake data, assessments, and community statistics to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) and Program Life Cycle (PLC) for each participant. These dynamic plans are updated throughout the program to ensure progress is continuously tracked and optimized. The goal is to foster long-term resilience, accountability, and transformation by working across critical impact areas with sustained community support.

Step 1: Assessing Needs and Identifying Root Causes

Participants and their families complete tailored assessments that uncover the root causes of the challenges they face. This includes generational, cultural, and familial dynamics that impact a youth’s development. This foundational step is key to building a targeted Personal Development Plan.

Step 2: Building Supportive Networks and Community Resources

Touch connects participants with local support systems and resources such as mental health services, education assistance, mentorship, and housing support. Services are prioritized based on the most urgent needs revealed during assessments.

Step 3: Empowering Through Education and Skills Development

This step focuses on academic enrichment, technical training, job skills, and financial literacy. Youth and parents alike are supported in overcoming learning gaps and building readiness for future opportunities.

Step 4: Promoting Mental Health and Emotional Well-being

Mental health and emotional growth are embedded in every phase of the program. Services include therapy, counseling, emotional regulation skills, and wellness tools to support participants and their families.

Step 5: Legal Advocacy and Social Justice

Touch helps resolve open legal matters and addresses systemic legal issues that hinder growth. Advocacy includes support for custody, guardianship, emancipation, and policy reform that advances social justice.

Step 6: Fostering Positive Relationships and Role Models

Participants are connected with mentors who align with their experiences and goals. This step also supports rebuilding family dynamics and encourages intergenerational healing.

Step 7: Cultivating Resilience and Empowerment

Youth engage in leadership development, peer accountability, and social-emotional growth. Activities such as community service and self-reflection projects reinforce personal transformation.

Step 8: Sustaining Growth & Community Leadership

Past participants become mentors and community advocates. This final step promotes continued success through long-term support, leadership opportunities, and career development.

Touch Foundation for Change invites you to support this work through donations, volunteerism, and partnership. Together, we can change the trajectory of youth affected by systemic harms and build a stronger, more resilient community.
