Across our communities, young people are navigating some of the toughest challenges of our time—family instability, mental health struggles, lack of opportunity, and exposure to violence. These aren’t problems with simple fixes. That’s why Touch Foundation for Change was created—to walk alongside at-risk youth and their families with real support, real mentorship, and real change.
Whether you’re a parent seeking help for your child or a supporter looking to make an impact, this article offers an inside look at how Touch Foundation for Change is transforming lives in Los Angeles and beyond.
Our Mission: Transforming Youth from Crisis to Leadership
Founded in 2008 by Carolyn White, Touch Foundation for Change was built on the belief that every young person deserves a chance to thrive—regardless of their background or the challenges they face. Inspired by years of experience working within the juvenile justice system, Carolyn saw that most interventions were only treating symptoms, not the underlying causes of harm.
Our mission is to empower youth and young adults through personalized support, community mentorship, and holistic development. We work to reduce recidivism, prevent dropout, heal family systems, and guide young people toward lives of meaning and leadership.
What We Do: Comprehensive Support That Meets Youth Where They Are
Touch Foundation for Change offers a full spectrum of services designed to address the social, emotional, educational, and legal challenges that many youth face today.
We coordinate:
- Mentorship and role models to provide consistency, inspiration, and accountability
- Educational support including tutoring, skills training, and college/career planning
- Mental health services such as counseling, trauma recovery, and emotional development
- Family support through parenting workshops, legal aid, and family counseling
- Legal advocacy for youth involved with the juvenile justice system
Our team works collaboratively with families, schools, agencies, and local leaders to create a personalized path forward for each participant.
Making a Real Difference in Our Communities
Touch Foundation for Change currently serves over 180 youth through partnerships with organizations like the Boys & Girls Club of Carson and school sites across LAUSD. These aren’t just numbers—they’re lives.
We’ve seen teens go from court involvement to college applications. We’ve helped families rebuild communication, overcome trauma, and find stable housing. And we’ve watched participants return to mentor others, proving that transformation isn’t just possible—it’s sustainable.
Who We Serve
We support youth and young adults ages 6–19 who are at risk of dropping out, entering the justice system, or falling into cycles of violence, depression, or substance use. Most of our participants come from under-resourced communities and face multiple overlapping challenges at home and in school.
We also support parents, caregivers, and families, because we know that youth don’t grow in isolation. A strong family system is often the key to long-term success.
